|“An Incredible Eden” – June 2012|
|This was the epitome of a great vacation! I was fortunate enough to spend 6 nights at Bushwise in early June of 2012 after running Comrades Marathon-the experience really changed me. The location is perfect and the lodge is amazing; wonderful Africa decor that is perfectly selected provides a very relaxing atmosphere, and the sounds of Kruger are only across the river. Despite it being the start of the Dry Season, and nights being chilly, I refused to shut the balcony door because I loved hearing the hyenas, lions & hippos through the night.Tim & Annette are fabulous hosts, extremely warm and wonderfully knowledgeable about the area. They also ensure that the dinners are exquisite and each meal is to die for! Werner was a tremendous wealth of knowledge on our guided trips into Kruger, and also was very accommodating to our requests and extremely professional! He is certainly an asset for Bushwise in any situation because of his dedication and willingness to go the extra mile.
Leaving was hard to say the least, Bushwise provided great experience at a wonderful price to really gave me a feeling of African nature. I will certainly return and would recommend it to ANYONE seeking to stay in the area.

|”At Bush wise again” – May 2012|
|Have just spent another 3 wonderful days at Bushwise, we got to see most of the big 5 from the Lodge, rode Mountain bikes around the reserve, had sundowners watching a lazy hippo, and received the best service from Tim and Annette, can’t wait to go back again, this time was really special, thanks guys…|

|“A Wonderful stay at Bushwise” – May 2012|
|We stayed at Bushwise for 4 nights in April as part of our holiday in South Africa to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary. Everything lived up to our expectations. Bushwise is a small but beautiful thatched lodge overlooking the Kruger and Crocodile River. The owners, Tim and Annette are very professional and most welcoming. All our booking arrangements were made via email to Annette and everything went very smoothly including all the safaris and airport transfers. The rooms at Bushwise are comfortable and clean, the food is excellent, especially the dinners outside in the Boma – a very special experience with the sound of the lions roaring in the distance!
We would like to give a special mention to Werner our guide. He was great, he is so knowledgeable and has an obvious passion about Kruger and all the wildlife. We had a fabulous time on safari with him and he cooks a great breakfast!
If we ever get the chance to visit South Africa again we will definitely stay at Bushwise.
Thank you once again to all the staff for a memorable stay.

|“Memorable Experience !” – September 2011|
|Visiting Kruger National Park was a long-held dream for this not-so-travelled Australian … and as that dream came close to fruition , some apprehension mingled with the obvious excitement. Could it possibly live up to expectations that had been building since childhood?I need not have worried. Kruger not only proved to be everything I’d imagined, but thanks to the amazing hospitality of Tim and the team at Bushwise, became more than a dream came true.
With breathtaking scenery, the road trip from Johannesburg to Kruger provided a spectacular event in itself but the final few miles into Bushwise were by far the most spectacular. After leaving the main road, we were soon driving alongside giraffe and baboons, with more highlights to come as we were welcomed into the luxurious yet authentic lodge with a few cold beers on the balcony overlooking the Crocodile River, which abuts Kruger itself.
Tim was only too happy to take the time to relate his vast experiences as an athlete and tour guide in Africa (ask him about canoeing with crocodiles on the Zambezi River!). As the sun set, he pointed out elephants roaming along the river – an awe-inspiring first glance for this long-time elephant lover. The tasty dinner in the boma was equally transfixing as lions roared in the background.
The Sounds of Africa would become a stunning soundtrack as we enjoyed stunning cottage-style accommodation. The adventures that awaited in the park itself were even more amazing thanks to the expertise provided by Tim and his team. We were fortunate to spot four of the big five on day one, with rare rhino spotted just on sundown. There was even better luck on day five with all the big five spotted. There was much celebration as we enjoyed dinner with new friends – British travellers – that evening.
Those experiences alone were enough to make that trip a stunning one but it was the details that made it truly special. Our passionate guide was able to spot game (including the unprecedented sighting of three cheetahs mid-morning) in the most awkward locations. While looking for the big species, guides also noted the smaller creatures, pointed out some remarkable fauna and had many riveting tales to make every aspect come alive.
The two and a half days we had to spend in Kruger passed in an instant yet felt like a lifetime of experiences.
You would think that having finally crossed that item off the bucket list we would be ready to move on to other adventures – but no…..Bushwise lived up to every expectation and more.
We highly recommend the Bushwise Experience and can’t wait to visit again later this year.

|“Bushwise Brilliance!” – April 2012|
|We stayed here for 3 nights from 13th April and we had an absolutely fantastic time. From the moment we stepped off the plane in Nelspruit Tim, the host, was there to pick us up and transfer us to the Bushwise Safari Lodge. It’s about an hour from Nelspruit airport but the scenery along the way is stunning and Tim filled us in along the way about what to expect when there. When we arrived at the lodge there was a light lunch and drinks ready for us which was most welcome after a long morning travelling from Port Elizabeth – we ate it on our balcony overlooking the Crocodile river which forms the boundary between the lodge and the Kruger Safari Park. There are only a handful of rooms but the lodge is an impressive thatched building with large ceilings and the staff are very professional and friendly and give you your own space. The room was well equipped with a large comfy double bed, air-con, fan, mosquito net-windows, toiletries and great rain shower.
On day 1 we did an afternoon safari and saw a Lion, several rhinos, giraffes, zebras etc. Very pleased with day 1, day 2 was even better. We did a full day safari where we saw the big 5 before breakfast! We saw two leopards which I was very impressed with, three lions, buffalo, rhinos, dozens of elephants and all the rest. The best part was Werner who was a truly fantastic guide and took us nearly 100km deep into the park. He was good fun, answered all our questions and new exactly what to look for. On day 3 Werner took us on a day trip of the Panorama Route; Mac Mac Falls, Lisbon Falls, God’s Window and the Wonderview, the 3 Rondawels, Blyde River Canyon and Bourke’s Luck Potholes. It truly was a day to remember with some amazing scenery, Blyde River Canyon blew us away – again Werner made it what it was.
Each morning we had a fantastic cooked breakfast and cold selection, each evening we had a communal braai/outside meal. Ordinarily I’m a bit reluctant to attend these sorts of things but it was a really good opportunity to discuss the days finds and catch up. Eating below the stars listening to Lion’s, Hyenas and Wildebeest is definitely something to remember. On the last day Tim made sure that we made it to the airport in plenty of time.
All in all it was the highlight of our 2 weeks in South Africa. Our only regret, and I never say this about anywhere, is that I could quite easily have spent a further 2 nights there. 5 nights sounds a lot but I would have done one of their day trips to Swaziland and/or Mozambique (both much closer than Jo’burg). Ah well, there’s always another time….

|“Bushwise Safaris – April 2012|
|I cannot say enough great things about our short stay with Bushwise Safaris. From the initial email communications, confirmation, arrival, the stay, and departure, it all went extremely well. You would think that my family and I were Tim and Annette’s first and only customers by how friendly they are and eager to make sure our experience was a great one. The lodge is beautiful, and the setting is gorgeous. The bar, pool, and lounge area are all on the upper floor, and offer great views into Kruger and the Crocodile River, and make for an atmosphere that makes simply relaxing and enjoying the lodge and surroundings something worth taking time to enjoy. We were lucky enough that the weather allowed for all of our dinners to be served outdoors by fire and candlelight. As for the Kruger experience, you’ll have a hard time finding a more knowledgeable and fun safari guide than Werner. My family and I only had a short time to spend (4 days/3 nights) and Bushwise made sure to make the very best experience is such a short time. Like most people planning a trip to Kruger, I looked at several options before deciding on Bushwise. I’m very glad I did.|

|“Holiday of a Lifetime” – March 2012|
|You will not find anywhere more welcoming than Bushwise. Nothing was too much trouble. A very relaxed homely atmosphere with wonderful food. Tim & Annette ate with us listening to all our tales of the day, you would never guess they had heard it all before. I couldn’t believe my ears hearing the sound of lions roaring whilst we were eating dinner outside. Our trip into Kruger Park started at dawn, my dreams came true when we saw the magnificent 5 in one day. This was down to the expertise of our guide, he could spot animals from far away he even noticed a leopard asleep in the tree. I am looking forward to going back again and have recommended Bushwise to our friends and family.|

|“Part of the Bushwise Family” – March 2012|
|I have never been to South Africa and didn’t know where to begin in planning a safari vacation. After reading the great reviews about Bushwise, I sent an email to learn more. Annette responded almost immediately and was so incredibly helpful. She helped us book our safari package and additional trips to the Blyde River Canyon and Swaziland so we could make the most of our trip from the US.The lodge itself was amazing, and provided great views into the park. I went for a run along the Kruger fence one afternoon after Tim showed me a great running route and saw so many animals it was like a safari in itself! The food was delicious and it was so nice and relaxing having dinner under the stars after our action-packed days.
The safaris were incredible and we saw all the Big 5 and so much more. Werner and Tim were so knowledgeable about all the plants and animals, and I feel like I learned so much in my 5 day stay. I always felt so safe and taken care of, even in the midst of a terrible storm that almost flooded the roads.
I have told all my friends and family what a great time I had at Bushwise and how I can’t wait until I have the opportunity to go back. I really felt like I was part of the Bushwise family during my visit, which is incredible when you are thousands of miles away from home.

|“Many trips to Bushwise” – March 2012|
|We have been at least 10 times with European visitors over the past 6 years. Everyone has thought the trip fantastic, particularly the enthusiasm of Tim and the guides.I have visited 6 game parks in South Africa and the experience at Bushwise is by far the best and will be repeated many times.|

|“Time of my Life” March 2012|
|We spent three days at Bushwise Safari. To say it was probably the best three days holiday ever enjoyed is no exaggeration. The position of Bushwise so close to the Kruger is amazing…The sights and sounds will live with you forever. Tim’s hospitality is second to none, eating our meals outside by a camp fire and under the stars was so atmospheric. Jumping into the Infinity swimming pool after the Safari will probably one of the best swims of my life!! I think Bushwise balances guests expectations for a certain luxury without losing any charm. The whole experience, including the safari arranged by Tim was excellent. I would very much hope to be able to visit again.|

|“Swedes in Africa” – December 2011|
|We visited Bushwise for 5 days and were very happy with the hospitality shown by Annette and Tim during our stay. The lodge is conveniently located next to Kruger and we were able to see elephants, buffalo, rhino and many other animals while taking nice morning and evening walks along the fence just 50 meters from the door. Not to mention the zebras, monkeys and the warthog family that were seen in the garden every now and then. The room was good standard and was made up perfectly every day. Breakfast was good and dinner was excellent. The latter was served outdoors and felt quite exotic. The tours were all very rewarding and even if didn´t see a leopard we are fully satisfied and would love to visit here again.|

|“Simply Amazing” – November 2010|
|My friends and I (all Southamericans) had the most wonderful experience in the Bushwise Lodge. We only had a day an a half to live the safari experience and thanks to Tim, Annette, Peter and Rick we had an amazing time.Though we had very little time, we saw the wildlife that we were expecting to find and more. Having Rick as our guide was superb because not only he took us to the places were we could see the animals very close (lions 2 metters away from the car!!!!) and surrounded by beautiful scenery, but he complemented the ride with interesting information and real-life anecdotes. Excellent!!!
Tim and Annette were incredible as hosts, the food was really nice, the facilities were great, the view from the lodge was already special before starting our safary journey. We only regret not having better cameras to have taken better photos of what we were experiencing.
I would strongly recommend to anyone this lodge and the homey environment it offers to the visitors.
